It's a tough life when you're burdened by conscience.
To my abhorrence, in the shower this morning I noticed a spider had drowned! :(( Aware It was no reimbursion - but the least I could do to recompense - I decided to save the spider who'd been entrapped in the bath for a few days. Knowing this could have adverse ramifications, it was a tough decision: do I save the spider, and allow it to eat innocent flies, or do I - the only one with the power to save it - allow it to die? Ultimately, feeling guilty and remorseful, I decided to set the spider free: I couldn't bear to see it die in that bath and know I could have saved it. But why does it get to live, but the flies don't? So unfair :(((
Like the Hawk from 'Hawk Roosting' by Ted Hughes, I sometimes just wish I could be unburdened by conscience :( but the guilt??????????????????? Y
